We at SDE Weddings, Toronto’s premier wedding videography and video cinematography group, were ecstatic to be a part of Matt and Joanne’s special day together, and were drawn especially to the couples’ exceedingly sincere devotion to one another, both as self-declared ‘best friends’ and star-crossed lovers. “You make me dream while my eyes are open”, were words that stand out to us from Matt’s speech to the crowd of jubilant faces which gathered on the auspicious evening of his wedding day. Sentimental sentences which speak of a lifetime’s love were ever present during the wedding celebration of Matt and Joanna, which took place earlier this month on April 5th, 2014 in the 1871 Berkeley Church on Queen St., an aptly historic scene for an unforgettable union of two souls bound as one. Matt and Joanne met serendipitously in a setting fit for romantic cinema on the dancing floor. Little did he know that this very same stranger would glance at him again many years later, on centre stage in front of friends and family, to declare an undying love and a life made anew. Very seldom does one come across a couple whose vibrant energy and chemistry together is enough to fill a room with smiles from ear to ear, and for our videographers, Matt and Joanne’s wedding day would be be one filled with bountiful smiles, laughter and happiness throughout the evening.
They say true love is enough to stand the test of time, and for Grace and Christian, there is no truer a sign of love than a reaffirmation of wedding vows. The couple, who’ve been happily married ten years, chose to renew their promises to each other in a much more vibrant and celebrated light, as their primary wedding promises were met under less than glamorous means. Now that they’ve threaded the path of life together and have built a bit of financial prosperity for themselves, Grace and Christian saw it fit to finally have the fancy wedding ceremony that they’ve always wanted. We at SDE Weddings, Toronto’s premier wedding videography & cinematography group, found the whole sentiment of renewed vows rather charming, and were very much pleased to put forth our efforts in reflecting the ideal wedding experience that Grace and Christian envisioned for themselves in full media form. The ceremony and reception took place in St. Lawrence Hall, about Toronto’s famous St. Lawrence Market, on November 23, 2013, in an inspiring “re-nuptial” wedding service surrounded by the couples’ closest loved ones to commemorate a decade’s milestone of a marriage.
The cold autumn day of filming for our videographers began with a solemn reading of short notes between Grace and Christian as they busily prepared for their decade’s wedding anniversary. Grace and Christian, a Filipino couple from Toronto, already knew ten years ago that they were ready to grow old together, and indeed, with the couples’ young son helping his big dad into his anniversary attire; we couldn’t help but feel that their wishes for a prosperous married life were verily granted. Grace, elegantly dressed in a thick silken beige coat to match her wedding gown, met with Christian, in full formal suit with a vintage trilby hat and black bow-tie, at the bride’s family home, and the two hurriedly made their way to the the stone arches of Guildwood Inn Park on the shores of Lake Ontario for afternoon wedding shots and video-taking by our crew. Afterwards, the beloved couple and their entourage arrived at St. Lawrence Hall to attend to greeting guests and making last-minute provisions for their once-fabled gala anniversary reception.
The wedding of Katherine and Dan, a Cantonese couple from Toronto, was a rather vibrant and ostentatious one, and rightfully so. Extravagance and adornment is not at all something inexcusable during an event as big and important as a wedding day, and with the couple’s holy vows made in Casa Loma, one of Toronto’s most celebrated and famous historical landmarks, we can’t blame the two for going all out. The festivities were held on August 24th, 2013, with a grand reception at the stylish La Primavera Convention Centre to close the night, which made for plenty of videography work for our Toronto wedding crew. As we here at SDE Weddings saw it, the bride and groom made it a point to set a tone of auspiciousness for the occasion, in celebration with family and friends, and not only for the wedding, but for the long journey of life afterwards.
