From the all the miniscule details in the décor, all of seventeen custom-made chandeliers resembling an homage to the Babylonian hanging gardens , and an entire team of thirty wedding décor specialists taking about twenty whole hours to set up, it’s no surprise that Michelle and Paul’s fantastically gallant wedding celebration was famously featured on Wedluxe, a high-end wedding planner’s magazine. For us here at SDE Weddings, Toronto’s premier wedding videography and cinematography group, stepping into Michelle and Paul’s wedding reception on October 5th, 2013 at the luxurious Deercreek Golf & Banquet in Ajax was enough to make us stand still in awe, and true to our name, fashion a same-day-edit for the couple from among the most beautiful wedding day shots we’ve ever taken. Nonetheless, behind the whole pageantry of it all was the unyielding motivation of the love of a couple who met as high-school crushes ten years ago, and whose time, hard work and dedication to each other brought them to such magnificent of heights.

A frequent task often assigned to our videographers, their work with Michelle and Paul began two days beforehand during their wedding rehearsal, at the gorgeous St. Nadela Orthodox Christian church in Ajax. Indeed, the couple made sure to tie every loose knot together before, of course, tying the big knot itself. As is often the case, the choice of a wedding rehearsal by the wedding planner or the couple ensures that all the vendors have a bit of practice and familiarity with what we’ll have on our plate later on. In particular, knowing the structure of the church in advance helped us choose to incorporate a few scenes shot from an overhead balcony looking down to the couple, which was a nice touch.

The Macedonian wedding rites performed at St. Nadela’s were rather interesting sights to behold, and was truly a new and refreshing experience for our cinematographers. In a traditional chapel with walls of painted effigies of orthodox saints, a ceiling lit with candle-light chandeliers and the couple donning on a smidgen of royal regalia with crowns atop their caps, the ceremony itself turned out to be a wedding scene worth seeing. The Pièce de résistance of the evening, however, would undeniably be the banquet hall of the reception itself. Held at the acclaimed Deercreek Golf & Banquet, the laboriously elaborate craft-work that went behind designing every little detail; from the hanging arboreal chandeliers to the lovingly chosen trinkets as wedding gifts, was what brought Michelle and Paul’s wedding celebration a bit of journalistic notoriety within the wedding blogosphere. All in all, Michelle and Paul’s wedding stands out to us as having one of the most, if not the most beautifully prepared venues we’ve filmed. From coronation to celebration, not much more can be said besides seeing it for yourself.
