Ah, Valentine’s day. What more can be said about this quintessential day of romance and love that hasn’t been etched onto millions of Hallmark love letters and ubiquitous boxed chocolates? Well, one thing however – and that’s our very first Valentine’s Day wedding! A truly humbling experience for us here at SDE Weddings, Toronto’s premier wedding videography, cinematography and photobooth group. The daringly amorous couple who chose the day devoted to all things to do with love and romance for their wedding was Rob & Holly, an Italian couple of six-years from Hamilton who held this feast of St. Valentines appropriately enough at Christ’s Church Cathedral, with a resplendent reception at the lovely Sheraton Hamilton Hotel. Suffice to say, with a wedding film, our namesake same-day-edit highlight reel made for their reception, and our renowned photobooth service being a guaranteed hit with the guests, our wedding videographers and cinematographers had more than a handful for themselves this Valentine’s Day in working with Rob & Holly. Early morning Valentine’s Day for our wedding videographers and cinematographers began at Holly’s hotel in Hamilton, the ‘prime minister suite’ of the Hamilton Sheraton Hotel, for filming of the wedding day’s preparations. For a lovely first shot, a teary-eyed bride Holly reading through the wedding day morning’s letter addressed to her from her husband-to-be, and a gorgeous gift of a topaz ring. Our videographers and cinematographers had chosen to feature an absolutely stunning shot sequence of Holly’s preparations – which includes the eye-catching thumbnail shot for the same day edit highlight reel! Getting our creative juices flowing, a clever shot of Rob & his groomsmen having a toast, with the shot taken quite literally ‘bottoms up’. A candid reveal of Holly to her bridesmaids was also a favorite scene by our videographers and cinematographers. Apparently emotions are contagious, as Holly’s earlier teary-eyed disposition was shared by her bridesmaids as well. A true life moment shared with the truest of friends.

For the couples’ St. Valentine’s Day ceremony and celebration, the beloved couple Rob & Holly chose Hamilton’s ‘Christ’s Church Cathedral’ for an absolutely unforgettable wedding ceremony. Our videographers and cinematographers, having filmed in several cathedrals before, found it quite quaint that Rob & Holly truly went all-in through choosing a cathedral ceremony and wedding on a religious holiday. In any case, with an intricate and awe-inspiring interior, our videographers and cinematographers made sure to get the best shots of the venue possible; featuring the stunning stained-glass fixture of the cathedral’s main altar which can be viewed in the highlight reel. A favorite shot of ours as well, the couples’ candid reaction as they face each other at the moment of truth. A true expression of happiness on both Rob & Holly’s faces as they meet one another under the altar. Unique to Rob & Holly, we had chosen to incorporate the audio of Rob reciting his solemn vow to his beloved bride Holly as the two exchanged the wedding ring and finally pronounced husband and wife on a momentous Valentine’s Day. Their first kiss(es), and then some, were greeted with wide applause from the guests, and made for a memorable scene captured and immortalized in film.

For the Valentine’s Day evening’s events we returned to a beautiful and extravagant reception care of the Sheraton Hamilton Hotel. Rob & Holly, the unmistakably proud newlyweds, entered the reception’s dance hall bursting with lively energy and exuberance, and juxtaposed by our videographers and cinematographers in the highlight reel with a slow and subdued scene of the newlyweds’ first dance, surrounded by smoke, silence and a staring crowd, starry eyed at the scene unfolding. As an added ‘jolt’, Rob & Holly had Espresso artisans fix them their own latte-art, and shared a cup of matrimonial microfoam, and a cafe-kiss of latte-soaked lips. To bring an end to the evening, Rob & Holly had featured our same day edit highlight reel alongside their commemorative wedding day speech, a true honour for our videographers and cinematographers to have their work on centre stage, and being a part of what made Rob & Holly’s wedding day complete. All in all, we here at SDE Weddings, Toronto’s premier wedding videography, cinematography and photobooth group, wish Rob & Holly a wonderful life ahead of them, and hope that each Valentine’s Day from here on in will always be as special and spectacular as their very own wedding day.
